UNITED EARN DRAW IN NEW FIRM THRILLER

In a cracking game at Tannadice, United fought back to earn a thoroughly deserved draw.

Thousands of Dons had travelled down for the game following their unbeaten start to the season, and the atmosphere inside the ground was absolutely superb with both sets of fans in full voice.

United lined up with Bullock, Wilson, McCracken, Innes, Archibald, Kerr, Brebner, McIntyre, Robson, Dodds & Grady. Aberdeen started with Preece, McGuire, Anderson, Diamond, McNaughton, Hart, Heikkinen, Severin, Mackie, Craig & Adams.

Both sides started at 100 mph, and Aberdeen scored on seven minutes sending their fans absolutely wild. A long ball by Adams, which really should have been dealt with by Mark Kerr, was taken well by Mackie and banged home from 14 yards. Both sides huffed and puffed in this thrilling encounter with little effect until on 83 minutes Colin Samuel was upended in the box by Zander Diamond. Mark Wilson converted from the spot to notch the first goal the Dons have conceded this season.

On the whole United had the bulk of the encounter, and perhaps would have won it on a points decision, although to be fair either side could have had two or three goals.
