United drew 0-0 on Saturday, leaving them one point above the ‘Dee with just one game remaining. More depressing though, was that United were, by all accounts, truly awful. Gone was the passion and flair from the previous week's Dundee derby, and it was replaced with a team of players who really lacked ideas and amibition. Equally frustrating from a fan's perspective is that a victory today would have left United needing only a draw at Rugby Park next week to finish above their arch-rivals from across the road, who drew 2-2 at Hibs.
Both Dundee teams have away fixtures for their final games – United at Killie, and Dundee at Motherwell. If only the concern felt by the fans as to who finishes higher up the league could be passed on to the playing staff, then I feel 5910 who turned up yesterday may have gone home a little happier.
