Dundee United keeper Lukasz Zaluska once again hit the headlines as his error gifted Hibernian a point in an enthralling encounter at Tannadice.

The Polish shot-stopper, who was involved in much of the controversy in the midweek CIS Cup tie against Aberdeen at Tynecastle, seemed to be still recovering from that display as he produced an eccentric performance against Mixu Paatelainen's side.

He fatally lost his concentration to give the visitors a point which they probably did not deserve.

The Tangerines had started where they had left off against Aberdeen pushing forward in great numbers and creating numerous chances.

It came as no surprise when they grabbed the lead in the 13th minute through a Noel Hunt penalty. There was no doubt about the award of a spot-kick after Guillaume Beuzelin had floored Willo Flood.

The goal signalled a period of total dominance by Craig Levein's side for the remainder of the half and they really should have gone in to the break with a far greater lead.

However, the Hibees could have equalised had it not been for striker Dean Shiels being totally out of touch, missing a glaring opportunity in the 29th minute.

After the break, however, the door was opened for the visitors thanks to Zaluska's appalling howler.

A weak 20-yard volley from John Rankin immediately after the restart was completely misjudged by the United keeper as he dived, allowing the ball to bounce over him.

United continued to dominate possession but the visitors created several good chances most notably in the last ten minutes when Shiels completely mis-kicked with the goal at his mercy.
