BATTLING DISPLAY SEES UNITED TAKE POINT FROM RIVALS

It was a day when United would have loved three points, but it wasn’t to be. We took the lead shortly before half time when Stevie Crawford latched on to a Barry Robson cross to nod home, but Deloumeaux equalised for Livingston midway through the second half.

It was a pulsating game, worthy of any standard, never mind a relegation battle at the bottom of the SPL.

The point takes us to within 2 points of Dundee, who were beaten 1-0 at Killie, which means that next week’s derby is a real six-pointer – a United win will see us leap above them by one point, whereas (say it quietly) a DFC win would give them a five point gap and almost certainly seal their SPL standing above us for this season.

We’ve been playing very well recently though and I fancy our chances next week.

All in all it wasn’t a bad point today against a decent Livi side who dumped Hibs 3-0 last week – and that’s us taken seven points from Rangers, Hearts and Livi, seven points we would have gladly taken before those three fixtures. Also of the bottom four………

9 Dundee 34 -28 31

10 Dundee Utd 34 -19 29

11 Dunfermline 34 -26 28

12 Livingston 34 -28 28

We have the best goal difference – which could be crucial.

Onwards and upwards then – and it’s the derby next week. Can your nerves handle it?
