The Tangerines have already fixed up Paul Paton, Chris Erskine and Brian Graham for next term and there’s likely to be another signing completed before the players return from their summer holidays.
Although Jackie declined to identify any of his targets, it looks likely to be a striker who is next in the door.
A loan-return for David Goodwillie has not been completely ruled out but chances are it will be another target who’s fixed up.
And by the time United head for their pre-season training camp in Germany and Spain at the end of next week, an experienced defender should also have joined up for a trial.
“Obviously, I’m looking for a striker and a left-back and I think there should be progress this week,” said Jackie.
“I’m definitely expecting to have fixed up more new faces by the time the players are back.
“I have been speaking to a left-back who I want to have on trial and that looks like it could be tied up soon. He’ll either join us at the start of training next Monday or maybe join up when we head for Berlin.”
After a week in the Germany, where Union Berlin and Energie Cottbus will be faced, the next destination will be the south of Spain and a training complex in San Roque.
That leg of the journey should include a game against FC Cordoba, who play their football in the Spanish Second Division.
“We’ve been speaking to them and I’m just waiting on confirmation we’ll play. It looks like the game will take place at the pitches where we’ll be training,” added Jackie.
