A point from safety
This Sunday will see United take on Rangers in front of the national cameras. No doubt there will be some interest from other parts of the country as to what changes Craig Brewster has installed in the United team so far but for us Arabs it may well be a day where we get to view a glimpse of the future. If Livingston fail to take all three points from there game at Motherwell, they will be more than 18 points behind United with only 6 games to go, and the Terrors will be officially safe from Relegation.
What this may mean for United fans is come 3pm on Sunday, Craig Brewster may feel the opportunity is there to experiment a little bit with the team and tactics. Obviously there will not be much tinkering as any visit of Rangers must be treated with respect and the club must try and finish as high in the league as possible but there may be the opportunity for a few unseen faces to be put to the test.
Likewise, if Livi do take the three points, united will go into our game knowing we can get the extra points required to make us mathematically safe and if that is the case i'm sure our players will go into the game fired up and ready for battle.
Rangers, lets not forget, are still chasing second spot in the league and with Hearts playing Celtic on Wednesday night it gives them a great opportunity to close the gap to three points and exert pressure on Hearts. One thing that you can be sure of is that Rangers will be firing on all cylinders and whatever team Brewster puts out, they will have to be on their guard.
All in all, a great game looks to be on the cards and we can at least look forward to it with a bit of excitement – something that has been missing at too many games this season.
