With the dust now settled and most Arabs (myself included) almost ready to forgive the SFA for poaching our manager
mid-season, we can look forward to the prospect of one current United player taking the field for Scotland tonight with the
added bonus of potentially two more playing a part in the game at some point.
Andy Webster is well equipped to deal with the rigours of the International arena and for Paul Dixon and Garry Kenneth
it will be a fantastic experience to see first-hand all that goes on within the Scotland set-up…not to mention a great achievement for
them both at their young age and a great chance to catch up with the former gaffer to boot!
Over and above all this, maybe, just maybe, it heralds a new chapter in Scottish International football where the incumbent manager
has the far-sightedness to look beyond the compulsory dull tradition of prizing Old Firm players above any other home-grown talent and
therefore sending out a signal to young Scot’s footballers that they don’t have to succumb to a place on the bench in Glasgow in order
to have their skills recognised at International level.
United-Mad wishes our boys all the best for tonight’s game and let’s hope we see even more Terrors wearing that funky new Adidas strip for
Scotland. Do us proud lads…and enjoy every minute. Let’s hope they all play some part in tonight’s game…if only to see the touch-counters
over at Muggle-Central’s go into overdrive!
