UNLUCKY UNITED OUT OF CIS CUP

It was one of those nights for United. We got off to a poor start when Stillie was beaten by a lob after only 112 seconds. Robson should have scored minutes later, but his header bounced off the post and clear, the first of three attempts that would hit the framework from Barry. McIntyre also came close later on with a glancing header.

ICT’s second looked to have been knocked over the line by the hand of Wilson.

Lee Miller was carried off injured after a collision with ICT’s Mark Brown in the second half.

It was a disappointing result, which leaves just the Scottish Cup as United’s only realistic chance of silverware for yet another year.

Visitors to the messageboard tonight have been calling for the manager’s head, which of course is nonsense. We were unlucky tonight. We weren’t brilliant, a bit flat in fact, but ICT were no better. We again let in an early goal, and this seriously needs to be addressed, as early goals are costing us dearly, as are defensive errors, one of which lead to Cali’s second. But calling for Chiz’s head? What will that achieve? Chisholm has made some excellent signings, Miller, Canero and Fernandez to name but three, but these players (all eleven) need to take a hold of the game when they are on the pitch. They are clearly good enough, have the skills fitness and determination – so let’s see this turn into goals and victories.
