Jim McIntyre Out For Season

Jim McIntyre has slipped a disc in his back, and will be out for the rest of the season! Terrible news.

Discovery Cup Set To Become Two-Horse Race

The Discovery Cup, which has only been contested once so far, and won by United I might add, is set to become a one-game tournament involved one single derby match between the two Dundee teams.

The reasoning is that both clubs were unhappy with playing two games within a 24-hour period in the pre-season build-up.

I can’t remember it causing any problems last year.

I quite enjoyed the Disco Cup, as it has become known, and it was a good chance to pit our wits against strong opposition, not to mention having a right good booze-up with the visiting fans. BUT never mind the fans, the exposure, the glamour and the excitement, our over-paid prima-donnas, out of every cup at the first hurdle and struggling in the league, can’t play two games over a weekend.

Would it be too bold to suggest that it’s BECAUSE they are not fit/able enough to play two games over a weekend that we are currently in this state?

And what about giving youth a chance then? Or new signings? Treat the games as friendlies (which they are) and rotate players – even have as many subs as you like built into the rules?

What about inviting a team from abroad?

The possibilities are endless, but I think that just making it a ‘local derby’ makes us look parochial – an image I suggest that both teams would wish to avoid.

Youths called Up To International Squad

Garry Kenneth, Greg Cameron and David Goodwillie have all been called up to the Scotland Youth Squad (U19) for the summer tournament in La Manga. The dates are 25/02/06 - 04/03/06

Lee Mair makes Comeback in Reserves

He’s been out for a very long time, but Lee Mair finally played some football – 63 minutes in the reserves – with no hiccups!!

We wish Lee all the best, and hope that he will make a quick return to first team action.
