Motherwell preview by Wishae Arab

Well Saturday sees my shortest journey of the season with a visit to Fir Park for a crunch match against the team immediately below us in the SPL. It’s only a 10 minute drive along the road, but I think I’ll leave the car behind in case I decide to have a few shandies before the game!

The game against Motherwell is always a bit of a day out for the Weegie Arabs, and Saturday will be no different in this respect with a squad of us meeting up in a local hostelry before the short walk to the stadium.

After the last two games (Hegarty’s first two in charge) I’m definitely brimming with confidence and fancy us to extend our lead against the Fir Park team to 4 points.

Earlier in the season I never thought I’d say this, but I can’t yet again see any reason for any changes in personnel, other than on the subs bench, where I think Alan Smart will be a not-so-surprising omission. No-one I’ve spoken to is definite as to whether he is in fact suspended for this game, but I can’t see Heggy keeping him in the squad after his needless retaliation on Wednesday night.

That having been said it was all a bit “handbags at ten paces” stuff, and everyone where I was sitting was somewhat mystified by McCurry’s decision to send the volatile ex-Oldham player packing. Even more puzzling was why the ref then ran all the way to the half way line before awarding a penalty! Did he consult the stand-side linesman – or the fourth official? Who knows and of course it really doesn’t matter given that Lilley buried the penalty to secure our path to a Hampden semi-final.

Prediction time! Well somewhat worryingly I think I got the Livi score correct, but didn’t put any money on it (a mug’s game in any case), but in case any of you are fancying Wishae as your local tipster I’m going for the second clean sheet and a convincing 3-0 win!
