LIVI IS NOT THE END OF THE SEASON

But why would it? We knew the first four games were going to be difficult before the season even started. Because of this sequence of fixtures many say that the Livi game is the real start of the season. If we lose, which is possible, it won’t be the end. It’ll be a ******* bad start of course, but certainly not the end!

Our next game would be Thistle away, and surely there aren’t any Arabs around anywhere don’t believe we can go there and win? Sure we can. Anything could happen. Should be a good game in fact. So it’s certainly not and never will be the end.

I for one am 100% behind Ian McCall. I think he’s still finding his feet in the SPL. There have been hints of what has been missing at United for years – the determination to win. Cheers Ian.

So it’s not the end. Results haven’t gone our way, but we have shown flashes of game winning ability both against Hibs and Rangers. If we can play like that all, or at least most of the time, eventually (maybe at Livi?!?) we’ll be a team that is difficult to beat.

For a long time the Old Firm has had a ridiculous dominance in Scottish football, with the rest of us floundering. No one other than the ‘Glasgow Giants’ (groan) has won a trophy since 1998, five years and two teams win all 15 trophies. And they celebrate each like a Millennium party! Aberdeen were the last non-OF side to lift the league trophy, a full 18 years ago in 1985. In fact of the 42 domestic trophies available since 1990, non Old Firm clubs have claimed just NINE, five League cups and four Scottish! Provincial football will always be provincial football, but this, by historical standards is a poor record for the provincial clubs of Scotland. For example in the period 1970-1990 nineteen trophies were lifted by ‘the others’, including four titles. The previous twenty years (1950-69) saw twenty-five trophies lifted outside the gruesome twosome, including seven titles.

Grim reading and lean times.

Finally if you think we’ve got it bad – spare a thought for Notts County, the WORLD’S OLDEST league club, in dire financial trouble at the moment, and facing a serious threat of closure.
