It has to be said but god bless Arabzone for the quality Arab coverage it gives us. Particularly us ex-pat Arabs who miss being able to follow the team as regularly as we used to be able to.
Watching the Zone first thing this morning, three different things struck me. Firstly, how brilliant to see Jon Daly scoring freely after all his traumas of the past couple of seasons. One serious injury is bad enough for any professional footballer but to come back from two different career-threatening injuries shows guts and character and he’s rewarding us Arabs with some well-taken and vital goals this season. Loving his ‘hands-up’ celebration too…quality.
Second observation (and this has been gone over on the message-board too) is why the feck do we persist with the zonal marking at set-pieces? How frustrating to see Diamond out jump our defence purely because (as Joe points out in the Zone commentary) our guys are defending from a standing jump versus somebody running in with forward motion. Can’t believe how many of the goals we’ve shipped this season have come from set-pieces against us…maybe time the coaching staff mixed it up a little?
Last observation (promise) about the Zone is…how fecking good is it to see Heggy back in the fold and being interviewed? I doubt that I’m alone amongst United-Mad posters in saying that he was a boyhood hero and a true club legend…over and above being a genuinely decent human being.
Keep up the brilliant work Arabzone…you’ve created a high-quality service that’s indispensable to all Arabs.
