A heavy defeat away at Ibrox which was followed by a tricky away win to lower league opposition. This marked a turning point in our fortunes last season for United and although still early in the season, many fans will be hoping this pattern is about to repeat itself this. United have so far failed to set the heather on fire but a good win up at Dingwall sees United move into the quarter finals of the league cup and only a victory away from yet another Hampden appearance.
With key play makers Conway and Swanson still nursing knocks, it's been up to David Goodwillie to provide the spark and his performance up at Dingwall was perhaps one his best ever in tangerine.
With a tricky derby against St Johnstone on Saturday, United should be hoping to take all 3 points should they be serious about their ambitions of finishing third in the league for the second season in a row although it will be a tough game with both Colin Samuel and recent addition, Jennison Myrie Willaims no doubt wanting to prove a point against their former employers.
