Almost spat out my cornflakes this morning when I realised who we would have in charge for the Final at Hampden. That said, there’s a short-list of two referees who I think are up to standard at work in the SPL at present so it was always likely we’d end up with someone we’ve had previous with. Still, despite the attendance of Dougie Macdonald it’s going to be a day to remember…hopefully for all the right reasons for Arabs.
Reading through the board I get the distinct impression that many of us share the same lack of enthusiasm for these last few SPL fixtures. Once 3rd spot was safely clinched it has seemed like just counting down the days until Hampden. Hopefully we get through these last 3 games without injury or suspension as we need our best team out on May 15th against a Ross County who will definitely want the cup as much as we do.
Possibly Peter Houson will use these last few games to give some of the peripheral squad players a run out and/or a couple of the potential final starters a chance to show that they should be included. Can’t say that I’m particularly excited about any of the matches…only that we don’t lose any key players as a result of them.
The countdown continues and I cannae wait to see those Tangerine balloons fill the Hampden skyline…c’mon United.
