Casa makes room

Most United fans had noted that we were top loaded with an abundance of strikers but with little options at the back, so whilst it was no surprise losing high earner Francisco Sandaza who hardly kicked a ball last season and Jennison Myrie-Williams who had done little to impress, the sale of Damian Casalinuovo to Hamilton certainly came as a surprise to the majority of United fans.

The young Argentine had scored eight goals in his first season at United plus another two whilst on loan to Raith Rovers for the the first few games of the season. Many fans had noted the potential shown by 'Casa' in his first season who had appeared to adapt quickly to the demands of the Scottish game and the general view was that the best is 'still to come'. Although it may be Hamilton who will be the ones benefiting in the future, there is no doubt that the undisclosed fee received for Casa' went some way to funding the arrival of former Scotland international, Scott Severin who will help fill the defensive void left by the return of Andy Webster to Rangers and the retirement of Lee Wilkie.
